Easy, breezy living

If you ask Breegan Jane about indoor/outdoor living in California, she’ll tell you it’s “everything.” So, when she’s not on the set of an HGTV show, or designing for one of her clients, Breegan likes to take advantage of fresh air in her home. In fact, that’s one of her big priorities when designing, blending natural light and fresh air into spaces. But fresh air was a bit hard to come by in certain section of her home, with her old patio doors. Those doors were in need of an upgrade, and Breegan will be the first to tell you that she put off the upgrade in her home.

Breegan says her old doors were difficult to open and close, there were air gaps, and she was worried about the safety of the old glass. So, when it came time to revamp her old patio doors, she had three rooms in mind, her top floor patio, and two rooms that her sons spend a lot of time playing in.

Breegan replaced two gliders in the boys’ rooms. “The safety, the security makes me feel really good when the kids are playing in here and also just the extra natural light that I got by upgrading these doors,” she says.

The third-floor deck is one of Breegan's favorite outdoor spaces in her home. But that, too, needed replacing. With her new French doors, she finds herself enjoying that deck a little more.

“Upgrading the doors to my outside patio was one of the best upgrades. The double screen that locks into place really allows me to keep those doors open and feel the breeze,” she says.
