Corporate Employees and their Families Enjoy Masters of the Sky Event

As part of Andersen’s ongoing Sustainability Learning Series, Renewal by Andersen’s office and manufacturing employees get up close and personal with birds of prey.

On February 23, 2017, World Bird Sanctuary’s traveling avian ambassadors made a special appearance at our corporate office in Cottage Grove, Minnesota to offer our office and manufacturing employees an exciting, up-close, and personal experience with some of the world’s most fascinating raptors. The event was the fourth annual Masters of the Sky event for Andersen and our first here in Cottage Grove.

World Bird Sanctuary is a non-profit whose mission is to preserve, protect, and inspire the world to safeguard bird species. The organization partnered with Carpenter Nature Center of Hastings, Minnesota to bring not one, but two Masters of the Sky events in one night to Renewal employees and their families. The excited group packed into our new employee break room (which was part of the 2016 expansion project) to experience the fascinating world of hawks, eagles, owls, falcons, and vultures from around the globe. The trained ambassadors walked around the room with the birds, told fun and interesting facts about each, and even demonstrated the birds’ live, silent flights. We’re not sure who had more fun—the employees or their kids!

Masters of the Sky is part of Andersen’s ongoing Sustainability Learning Series designed to provide employees educational opportunities to immerse themselves in nature and topics related to corporate social responsibility.

“One way we can help employees connect with nature is to bring nature here!” explains Annie Perkins, Sustainability Analyst at Andersen Corporation. “The Masters of the Sky event wakes our senses, stirs our curiosity, and fosters a desire to do our part in preserving the habitat that supports these majestic birds.”

Andersen Corporation has been a sponsor of environmental education with Carpenter Nature Center (CNC) since 1997. The mission of CNC is to foster, appreciate, and inspire stewardship of the natural world through land and wildlife habitat preservation, and providing education, conservation practices, and outdoor experiences for the local Minnesota and Wisconsin communities.

Through the partnerships of these two organizations, members of the Twin Cities communities can experience this fascinating and exciting event for themselves. Check the CNC calendar for upcoming events or plan a family trip to World Bird Sanctuary!
