Energy Star Partner Award For Andersen Corporation

Andersen earns award for protecting the environment through manufacturing products that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions

BAYPORT, Minn. (March 28, 2016) –
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized Andersen Corporation, including Renewal by Andersen, LLC., with a 2016 ENERGY STAR®Partner of the Year – Product Brand Owner Award for its outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by manufacturing energy-efficient products and educating consumers about energy efficiency.

An ENERGY STAR® partner since the Windows program began in 1998, Andersen Corporation (Andersen) is known for its long history of leadership in producing energy efficient products. Andersen was the first window manufacturer awarded the ENERGY STAR National Window Partner of the Year in 1999.

Andersen’s leadership in energy efficiency is exemplified through products that have helped set industry standards for minimizing environmental impacts while maximizing energy efficiency, performance and durability for customers. Andersen’s dedication to promoting the ENERGY STAR program is centered on advancing energy-efficient products within its four major brands, and educating all stakeholders about the benefits of ENERGY STAR certified products and programs.

In 2015, Andersen’s top three ENERGY STAR related accomplishments included:

1. Launching a new triple pane glass option for A-Series windows that meets the ENERGY STAR Most Efficient criteria for 2015. Andersen also launched a self-monitoring option for VeriLock® sensors, a smart home innovation that notifies homeowners if their windows are closed and locked, which promotes product energy efficiency.

2. Executing an integrated marketing effort to promote the “Why Andersen Corporation Supports ENERGY STAR®” consumer education video. Prominently featured as the lead video on Andersen’s YouTube channel, this video has been linked to multiple internal and external web pages, social media channels and media articles, and highlighted at trade shows.

3. Demonstrating leadership in the company’s operations. Andersen was the first window and door manufacturer – and only the second company in the building industry – to sign the Ceres Climate Declaration and to declare a public operational energy reduction goal. Andersen also repeatedly educated employees about ENERGY STAR, including creating a custom ENERGY STAR project on its internal social media platform and challenging every employee to participate in the ENERGY STAR Pledge.

“We are honored to receive the 2016 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award,” said Sal Abbate, Senior Vice President, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Andersen Corporation. “As the first window company to ever win the award back in 1999, we have had a long commitment to educating consumers about the critical importance of selecting energy-efficient windows that last.

“The ENERGY STAR brand helps consumers make wise decisions about energy efficiency throughout their home. Lowering energy consumption is a win for all of us, as well as the right thing to do for the environment.”

Since its inception in 1992, ENERGY STAR and its partners have helped prevent a total of more than 2.4 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2014 alone, ENERGY STAR and its partners provided more than $11 billion in societal benefits due to reducing damages from climate change.

“Andersen’s ENERGY STAR certified products are helping Americans save money, save energy, and do their part to reduce our nation’s greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change,” said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy.

“Andersen’s efforts demonstrate a strong commitment to energy efficiency and to preserving a healthy planet for future generations.”

ENERGY STAR has 16,000 partners working to protect the environment through greater energy efficiency, including manufacturers, retailers, public schools, hospitals, real estate companies, and home builders.
